Metrics come from first-party, cookieless analytics on live websites — not surveys, not scraped estimates, not other blogs.
k-anonymity (k = 5)
A segment is published only when 5+ independent companies contribute. Below the threshold it is dropped at computation time — no exceptions.
Percentiles, not averages
We publish p25/p50/p75 ranges. Medians resist outliers; the range tells you where "normal" actually lives for your industry.
The first public benchmarks are cooking
We publish a segment the month it crosses 5independent contributing companies — and not a day earlier. That bar is deliberately high: it's what makes these numbers citable when they appear. Where does this benchmark data come from?
From live websites tracked on the BusinessMCP analytics platform, aggregated monthly across workspaces. A benchmark for a segment is only published when at least 5 independent companies contribute — below that threshold, nothing is shown, ever.
What does k-anonymized mean?
No individual company's numbers are ever visible or reconstructible. We publish only percentiles (25th, 50th, 75th) per segment, and only for segments with 5+ contributors. A segment with too few companies is dropped at computation time, not just hidden.
What is a good B2B website conversion rate?
It depends heavily on what you count as a conversion and your traffic mix — which is exactly why medians by industry beat one global number. As our per-industry sample sizes cross the publication threshold, the charts on this page fill in with defensible ranges instead of the folklore numbers most benchmark posts recycle.
Why are some segments missing?
Honesty over coverage: if an industry segment has fewer than 5 contributing companies this month, we don't publish it. As the platform grows, more segments cross the threshold automatically.
